Biodiversity Net Gain

The Environment Bill received royal ascent on 9^th November 2021, meaning it is now an Act of Parliament.

Key components:

• Minimum 10% net gain is required;
• Habitat needs to be secured for at least 30 years;
• Habitat can be delivered on-site, off-site or via statutory biodiversity credits.

First step is to record baseline habitat and condition and calculate current level of biodiversity onsite.

Second step is to calculate post-development gains.

If the above steps do not result in 10% net gain we will develop and appropriate strategy to maximise biodiversity gains onsite for you.
